Megha Rao

Megha Rao began her formal studies in Kathak at Upasana the Spirit of Dance in 2009 Kathak under the guidance of Guru Saveeta Sharma. She successfully completed her Ranga Pravesh alongside her sister in August 2019. Megha was selected as a promising emerging artist by Sampradaya Dance Creations in Mississauga and by Le Centre Kabir pour les Arts & la Culture in Montreal as well as performed in their respective showcases in 2019. Megha has also performed in multiple professional shows presented by Upasana such as Utkalika (2016), Tribute to Pandit Birju Maharaj (2020), Dreams of Fire (2021), and India@75 (2022). Megha had the opportunity to attend workshops run by various visiting Kathak artists, such as Shri Anuj Mishra, Vidushi Saswati Sen and Padma Vibushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. Megha is currently specializing in the technique of Kathak and Indian contemporary dance. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Western Ontario while dancing in Guru Saveeta Sharma’s company.
