Nikita Kamblé-Bagal has been training intensively in Kathak under the guidance of Guru Saveeta Sharma since 2007. In April 2017, Nikita received the RBC Spirit of the Capital Youth Award in Arts and Culture through the City of Ottawa, for her contribution to the Arts in Ottawa. In August 2017, Nikita successfully completed her Ranga Pravesh. She had the honour of performing at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa in 2018 and 2019 and was selected as one of the dancers for Sadhana 2020, a professional development series presented by Pratibha Arts. Nikita presented her first solo show as a professional dancer, Le feu de la passion, in Upasana’s 2021 Professional Dance Series. She has participated in various workshops, most notably two workshops with Vidushi Saswati Sen and Padma Vibushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. Over the years, she has been exposed to Indian contemporary dance. Nikita is currently pursuing her training at Upasana and dancing in Guru Saveeta Sharma’s company while doing her PhD at the University of Ottawa.
