The newest member of Upasana’s dance company, Ishani is an Ottawa-based Kathak dancer under the artistic direction of Guru Saveeta Sharma, a disciple of Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. Beginning her journey with Upasana the Spirit of Dance as a student over 12 years ago, Ishani has grown into a talented dancer with a vibrant spirit to her performances. Her performance style is technical and precise, yet emotional and rich. Some of her most recent professional projects include Ek Rashtra Ka Chitra (2022), performances at Diwali celebrations on Parliament Hill over several years, performing with the Upasana dance company for His Majesty King Charles in Ottawa (2025), and most recently, being recommended by the Indian High Commission to perform on behalf of ICCR India for an upcoming project. She is currently pursuing a BA Honours in Psychology degree at the University of Ottawa.
